The building was constructed in 1868, designed by the local architect John Melvin for the wealthy William Bailey, joint owner of the then nearby Alloa Pottery. Many original features within the house still remain to this day including ornate plasterwork and fire surrounds.
Alloa Pottery exported a wide range of products on an international basis and it is known that William Bailey travelled extensively, including as far afield as Australia in order to advertise his products.
We are situated in the heart of Scotland within easy traveling distance to the main tourist attractions of Central Scotland including Edinburgh (40 miles) Glasgow (30 miles) and nearby historical City of Stirling (6 miles).
